Gently hammer the “boy” part of the snap to make it fatter so that it stays snapped. About ten hits worked for me! Fix the worn-out snaps on baby onesies, rompers, bodysuits, overalls. Gently hammer the “boy” part of the snap to make it fatter so that it stays snapped.
How do you reinforce fabric for snaps?
We recommend using an interfacing to help reinforce and protect the fabric surrounding the fasteners. For best results, use a sew-in material such as a woven/non-fusible interfacing, twill tape or similar weight cotton fabric.
It holds the socket (top), which is riveted to the underside of the button cap. Inside the socket is a tight wire spring that expands and contracts around the stud as it is pressed on and pulled off. Eventually, the spring looses its strength, causing the fastener to fail.
